Spider and Varicose veins – signs, symptoms, causes

You need to know that spider or varicose veins can occur to any people irrespective of age and gender. While ageing and genetic reason plays a major role in the appearance of spider and varicose veins, some other issues like pregnancy, prolonged standing, sudden weight gain and sedentary lifestyle can also cause these vein problems.

When you are trying to detect whether you are having spider veins or varicose one, you should know the appearance of these two vein problems are quite different from one another. You can see the varicose through the skin and it generally develops in the leg area. This twisted and turned varicose veins are actually large, swollen, raised blood vessels. However, spider veins are much smaller than varicose and can appear in red, blue or purple colors in the surrounding area of the face and legs. Moreover, you can also notice spider veins through the skin. Causes of spider veins and varicose veins are more or less similar depending upon the health condition of the affected person.

Some of the valid causes of varicose veins and spider veins are heredity, obesity, excessive usage of birth control pills, hormonal imbalance during puberty, pregnancy or menopause; side effects of hormonal replacement therapy, history of blood clotting problem, occupations involving prolonged standing, rare conditions like increased pressure for wearing extremely fitted garments or having certain health problem. According to some thorough studies, sometimes, previous vein surgery, sudden trauma or injury to skin and excess exposure to ultraviolet rays can also be the reasons behind your varicose veins and spider veins.
